New Year's Eve: The Crystal Ball

New Year's Eve is always one of the most anticipated party nights of the year. Unfortunately, it can also be one of the biggest letdowns. We say disappointment is so 2009. So bid farewell to lackluster dives. Instead, celebrate the New Year in style at the fifth annual Crystal Ball at International Market Square, a spacious venue with over 20 bars and multiple dance floors. The all-night bash features live music from the New Congress and house and soul beats from over a dozen DJs. And if music and dancing isn't your cup of tea, then mosey on down the hall for a fashion show put on by Ignite Models. The runway event, hosted by local Project Runway contestants Ramon Lawrence-Coleman and Christopher Straub, will combine looks from their collections, as well as styles from eight other local designers and boutiques. The best part about this ball is that there are a million things to do all under one warm roof, and that means not having to hop to-and-fro among mediocre parties and wait for unresponsive cabs in the freezing cold. If you feel like escaping the tundra all together, the Millennium Hotel in downtown Minneapolis is offering a special rate of $119 with a complimentary shuttle running between the hotel and the party during event hours. To purchase tickets online visit www.crystalball.vitalculture.com. Hotel rooms may be booked by calling 612.332.6000. 21+.
