Weekday Happy Hour

Located next to the Jungle Theater, just a skip away from the intersection of Lake Street and Lyndale Avenue, the Lyndale Tap House is another Uptown location that serves a good pint of beer. And you truly can't have too many of those. It has also been scandalously reported that girlie pinups line the walls. Frankly, I didn't notice them until my third trip, and that was because I was looking for them (perhaps the evening candlelight makes the decor more subtle). Drink specials are from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. during the week and feature half-off taps, rail drinks, and appetizers. Meaning you won't pay more than $3 for any pint. Unusual brews include the hoppy Rocky's Revenge and German staple Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest, as well as popular picks such as Stella Artois and Bell's Two-Hearted. Appetizers include a fun slider plate featuring mini-pit pork, turkey sloppy joe, and bean burgers; mussels steamed in beer; and soft pretzels perfect for sharing. Happy hour is perhaps the best time to visit, as the place can get a little noisy after 9 p.m., when the speakers inexplicably start thumping dance-club tunes. The place can also get a little rowdy during big sports nights, but the din can easily be avoided by asking to be seated away from the televisions (or sit in the eye of the storm for some good sports-fanatic people-watching).
