Jesse Ventura exclusive: Conspiracy Theory host talks 9/11, JFK, and Vietnam

Tru TV show Conspiracy Theory finds news editor in The Body

Jesse Ventura wants to talk.

He's on the phone, growling. "You want an exclusive?"

The guy hates the press. During his governorship, he famously printed press passes that read, "Media Jackal." Why's he calling now?

"My new show on TV," he says.

Ventura says he would have given the interview to the Star Tribune, but last time he got the shaft. The paper said he could only fight when he knew the other guy's moves first—a cheap shot at his long ago pro wrestling career.

"So I thought I'd talk to you instead," Ventura says. "Give you an exclusive."

He says he'll call back with the details in an hour, and hangs up.

A ROOSEVELT HIGH SCHOOL graduate who enlisted in the Navy in 1969, Ventura earned a spot as an elite SEAL trained in underwater demolition. He shipped out to fight in Vietnam, where he passed the time with cheap beer and easy women.

After he got back stateside, he joined a California motorcycle gang called the Mongols. Armed with discharge papers in 1975, he came back to Minnesota for community college classes and a little football.

Already big and tough, he started hitting the weight room. He was a bodyguard for the Rolling Stones for a while. Then he found regional pro wrestling and changed his name from James George Janos to Jesse Ventura. Ventura got married to his girlfriend, Terry Masters, moved to Oregon, then back to Minnesota while wrestling in different leagues. He added "The Body" to his moniker. His reputation grew.

Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Federation—home to the likes of Hulk Hogan—signed Ventura to a contract that carried him through to the 1980s before blood clots in his lungs made it too dangerous to continue. McMahon put Ventura on the announcer's mic for a while, where he was a huge hit, but in 1990 the two parted ways over contract disputes.

In the meantime, however, Ventura had laid down the beginnings of an acting career, with memorable turns in Predator, The Running Man, and Demolition Man.

Jesse and Terry settled in Maple Grove and he picked up an announcer's gig with World Championship Wrestling for a few years. But he was restless. And he was frosted by what he saw as an unholy union between local developers and politicians. In 1990 he made his first foray into elected office, running for mayor of Brooklyn Park against Jim Krautkremer, an incumbent who had held the office for 18 years.

Ventura won. Easily. "The Body" was becoming "The Mind."

In 1995, he got behind the mic again, this time as a radio talk-show host at KFAN and KSTP. From there, he parlayed his populist sentiments into a successful run for the governor's seat in 1998 under the Reform Party banner.

It was a tumultuous term. His administration slashed the state's budget, ran three surpluses, and issued tax rebates that were popular at the time but in retrospect may have been short-sighted. Having no major-party political affiliation was a blessing a curse—he had no natural enemies or allies—and passing legislation was a constant struggle.

Conquering the rest of the world seemed easy by comparison. He got book deals, a Playboy interview, a guest appearance at Wrestlemania, a season-long gig hosting XFL football.

The spotlight only made the scrutiny in Minnesota worse. Ventura had to apologize for unwise cracks about drunken Irishmen designing St. Paul's streets. And there were allegations that his son, Tyrel, was hosting parties at the governor's mansion in his absence. By Ventura's fourth year in office, the state's black ink had turned red. He was in a constant battle with the news media. By the time he returned from a trip to China in 2002, he'd had enough.

And just like that, he was gone. Between trips to Mexico, where he lives for about half of the year, he would reappear from time to time to promote books or movies, gabbing with the likes of Larry King and Howard Stern. MSNBC gave him a weekly chat show for a while. He even taught at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government.

Now he's back with a controversial new TruTV show called Conspiracy Theory, in which he accuses the government of everything from faking 9/11 to mind control.

The phone rings again. It's Ventura.

"I feel like doing this today. Right now."

A SOLITARY MAN PLUGS CHANGE into a parking meter on Washington Avenue. Gone are the days of personal drivers, media flacks, and policy wonks. But you can't mistake the man he once was as he strides forward with his paw out for a vise-like handshake. He's a mountain topped by long, stringy hair that falls out from under an old ball cap and almost touches the Rolling Stones jacket covering his broad shoulders. A dark blue T-shirt is tucked into his jeans. He's showing a little paunch.

One of his meaty hands shoves open a coffee-shop door and he steps inside. No heads turn, which suits him fine. He's not running for anything anymore, and he shuffles quietly to the back of the room, hands in his jacket pockets, to a big round table where he settles down in an old wooden chair. He leans back, lays one elbow on the table, and slowly looks around the room.

Open letter to Gov. Jesse Ventura Please forward this letter to Gov. Ventura, thanks, Jim Miller Governor Jesse Ventura Re: 2012 election Dear Governor Ventura: There is some likelihood of your being elected President of the United States of America in 2012, without caving into the Corporate State of America as Obama has done. At this point in time, the likelihood of that happening appears to be a long shot. With less than two years before the election and with a prospect of less than $100,000,000 of funding available, you will need to have the direct help of probably 100,000 ethical citizens and voters. You will also need to have a rock-solid plan to accomplish that goal. You only need 99,999 more citizens to help you as I am on board when you decide to run for President. There are two documents which will help you achieve victory, not only for yourself and your Vice President, but for many candidates who will run on the same “ticket” as yourself. The first document is a proposed eBook in the making, The Dragon's Teeth – the Battle is On. This short book chronicles the history and current workings of the Corporate State of America, a project by the members of the New World Order. It includes analysis of the already constructed FEMA Death Camps and descriptions of the detailed plans to round up people on the Red List to be exterminated shorty after the Radcon President declares a civil insurrection, imposes martial law, and suspends the Writ of Habeas Corpus. The people on the Blue list will be incarcerated in one of the 600 detention centers, sorted and the “extremists” executed, and the rest put to work in the FEMA Death Camps hauling corpses from the rail car death chambers into the plastic tanks to be dissolved by highly caustic chemicals. The ebook is built upon the works of others, including Naomi Klein, Thomas Frank, Dr. James K. Galbraith, Les Leopold, Jim Keith, Taylor Caldwell, and others. It is well documented and lays out a summary of the need for a new economy for the United States and a new political Party, yet to be named and formed. This new party is independent of the false duality of the Democratic Party and the Republican Party (the Republicrat Party). Its main target is the Corporate State of America (CSA), including current government functionaries who owe their loyalty to the CSA and not to the American people. Please keep this document for your eyes only, because with limited distribution, it does not violate the copyright laws where I have extensively copied materials written by others, some of which are copyrighted. Eventually I will expunge or excerpt the copyrighted works of others from whom I cannot obtain permission to copy and publish. In due course, I will produce a published version of the eBook. The second document is a road map for the creation and operation of a new, national political party, entitled, Protocol for formation of alternative government. The primary tool we need to employ is the World Wide Web and the primary force we need to employ is the Shadow Government similar to that used by the minority party in the British Parliament. Please keep this document in confidence as it contains copyrighted materials as aforesaid, and you are welcome to share it with a few of your valued associates. This document will uploaded to a wikiweb so persons who join the Party can edit text and add text, similar to Wikipedia. Both documents are works in progress and by no means have I covered all of the bases which need covering. I will be glad to rely on other writers to help me fill-in the holes and edit parts which need editing. I have registered the proposed domain name for this initial organizational effort as http://USAaltgov.us. I have started a Wikiwebsit at: http://USAaltgov.wetpaint.com. Initially this site is a private website and later, it can become part of the Party's public website. I am adept at using the wikiweb software offered by Wetpaint Central (www.wetpaintcentral.com) and can program in HTML; thus I offer my services in this field. I need a good, verifiable physical mailing address to which I can send these documents in digital form and get your signature of a RRR card, so that I will know the documents actually got to you. I will also appreciate having your email address. I await your favorable response. Sincerely yours, James E. Miller, BA, BS, JD jimmiller5417@yahoo.com

This article debunks Jesse Ventura's conspiracy theory about 9/11 http://www.faithfreedom.org/articles/op-ed/911-truth-conspiracy-theory/

Ventura is NOT dong his cause, such as it is, any good. MEANWHILE, our'daring and outspoken' ---one and ALLL baulk taking any quality look whatsoever in the direction of our disastrous, possibly lethal, 4 decades of sellout and suck-up to history's ---MOST---- awesomely genocidal regime -bar none! ----ACROSS the Pacific.

  • john 03/13/2010 12:52:00 AM

ventura is either crazy or a liar. 9/11 was not a hoax or anything else but what is was--terrorists crashing planes into buildings and killing thousands of people. Its awful how greedy unethical people like ventura use deception and fear to steal money from others!! Tell the truth scumbags!!

  • BecarefulVentura 03/11/2010 12:25:00 AM

Something is going to happen to him very soon if he keeps questioning the people or groups that control everything and they dont like what he has to say to the masses. They will release it to the media as some sort of health related incident but dont say I didn't tell you so. Watch yer back Ventura.

  • Doug 03/01/2010 6:14:00 PM

Hi, How do you get a hold of him, I have a story that blows a way anything he has talked about, And I have can prove it all, Thanks Douglas

Once you get past the hokey scripted dialogue and the comical dramatization, the show raises valid questions, makes interesting observations, and identifies alarming inconsistencies. It is far from a thorough examination of the issues and the credibility of the show's sources remains in question. However, regardless of one's personal affections for Ventura, it is a good starting point for anyone interested in validating the "official" truth.

I agree with some of the other commenters at other sites who are talking positively about Jesse's new TV investigative documentary show, Conspiracy Theory. This is like a breath of fresh air after a long time in a windowless dungeon for our country. I join those who would greatly like Jesse Ventura and his team to do all that they can to get James E. Files to talk. He has, from what I've read at Dankbaar's fine web-site, www.jfkmurdersolved.com, that there have been times when "Jimmy" didn't want to talk, but was able to be convinced to do so. He said he didn't like Oliver Stone who wanted to interview him for "JFK" in around 1991. It appears to me, just looking in from outside, that he may well like someone with guts, and whose only personal involvement would be just getting out the truth. He liked PI, Joe West in the late 1980's and early 1990's because Joe took a real personal interest in Jimmy, and had real respect for him. I think you are that kind of guy, and I hope and pray (for America' sake), that you get the opportunity to open up a real investigation of James Earl Files and his JFK assassination involvement. He knows of more high-ranking people who were involved that he has yet to speak publicly about. Or, so he has apparently intimated. Some of the people, I honestly believe, he knows are still alive today. That was what actor, Bruce Willis said two and a half years ago. His statements can be found at web-sites using his name in search engines. He said that he "believes that JFK's killers are alive and in power today." That statement was made 5 and a half years after the 9/11 attacks. God bless you for standing up for truth.

  • uggh 12/21/2009 11:56:00 PM

Jesse's show is horrible. It makes the other crap on TruTV look like award-winning journalism, and that is frightening! What a piece of rubbish.

  • Bruce 12/13/2009 8:50:00 PM

The issue is not whether or not you "like" the messenger but rather what is the message and whether or not you can believe what you hear and see. Watch World Trade Center #7 collapse, then look anyone in the eye and say that fire brought down the building. That is not how building that burn react.

  • frank 12/10/2009 11:00:00 PM

Jesse.....met you at Dealy Plaza in Dallas, Texas on the 40th anniversary of the John F Kennedy assination. Keep plugging on your issues.....it makes everyone think

  • J Stringer 12/07/2009 6:57:00 AM

I've watched the show but I'm not that impressed. But then I've not been that impressed with Jessie's other recent media appearances either. It seems like Jessie likes to just rant, last year Phil Hendrie had him on his radio show. Hendrie asked him lot of questions he did not like and refused to let him rant on 911 like he has during many an appearance on the Alex Jones show & it degenerated into name calling. Maybe I am wrong, but the guy (Ventura) seems to think anyone who didn't serve in the military is a lesser person, because he almost always brings his service up, no matter what the subject. I also like how the article glossed over Ventura's previous show in 2003, apparently it was canelled due to a combination of low ratings and Ventrua's attitude. There have been recent posts on the web by folks who worked on Ventura's previous show, claiming he was a bully & arogant. I won't even go into his recent endorsement of a new draft for the US military... the man wants slavery, which is disgusting.

  • Arthur 12/06/2009 12:06:00 AM

Rather than label Jesse as a nutcase or anyone who questions the government's official story of 9/11 as a "conspiracy theorist", it would be more respectful of the conversation if those who support the official story answer the questions that those of us who do not believe have been asking. Instead it is easier to deflect the conversation into a game of name calling. At the end of the day the questions remain ignored but not answered. Taxpayers paid $14 million dollars for the political appointees of the 9/11 Commission report to produce a 428 page report that fails to mention that the 47 story WTC7 building even collapsed. Same day, same complex, same free fall collapse scenario. But not even a paragraph to mention it. No wonder the majority of Americans are not aware of it. In the end the Commission Report and the NIST study spent about $34 million dollars ($6 million less than the Challenger disaster) to come to the least probable explanation for the collapses of all three buildings. This is apparently enough for our leaders and media to deny any questioning of the outcome. Google WTC7, watch the videos about this building, then decide for yourself. Don't let me, a government study or anyone else tell you what it looks like happened. Just watch it and decide for yourself if fire brought down the building in 7 seconds.

  • Brigitte Boubion 12/04/2009 2:25:00 AM

The only AMERICAN politian/patriot who has the GUTS to tell the truth...Americans are not as dumbed down as one might think...trust me. Everything Jesse is claiming we already know. Sad thing is, what can anyone do about it?

  • Crush 12/03/2009 8:49:00 PM

I would like the morons that critize Venturas beliefs to put up their own "Facts' regarding such topics as the 911 incident. And don't just say you believe in the 911 commission report. Please leave us with some hope that their are still some intellengent folks out their that can think on their own. You people are pathetic sheep that believe anything our government tells you.

  • Mike Anderson 12/03/2009 12:40:00 AM

Jessie is such a stiff -- this turd of a show will last 3 weeks tops....

  • Ashamed Ventura voter 12/02/2009 11:25:00 PM

The intro said it all. He called the media jackal press to pimp his new show. It will fail like his other "Ventura ventures" because he is a hack d-list celebrity. This YouTube is a perfect caricature: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-H4F79LNXQg

  • noodleman 12/02/2009 9:22:00 PM

This appears to be an extension of the "man in black" role he had in one episode of The X-Files, the ultimate conspiracy TV drama.

  • Joel 12/02/2009 4:00:00 PM

This guy is going to hand us Milk-Toast stories with a healthy dose of bull and nothing of value to factually back up anything he says. His oath forbids him to disclose anything that is actually "Secret", so he won't. After all, outside of being stupid, he takes his service very seriously. It will ALL be innuendo, it will ALL be pure hyperbole for the sake of the illiterate, ignorant and totally-phony Jesse Ventura. I predict his show will last 1 season. If only HE would go off the tube with it, for good.

  • Enver Masud 12/02/2009 4:36:00 AM

Bravo Jesse for having the guts to take on 9/11. The 9/11 Commission Report is fatally flawed http://www.twf.org/911.html. During my 3-week, 9/11 lecture tour of South Africa during which I spoke before audiences of hundreds daily, no one contradicted my conclusion one national radio announcer, initially a skeptic, came around. The U.S. embassy declined an invitation to rebut me.
