Toys in the Attic

Despite its name, this yearly toy show and benefit will not feature the toys that one might find in a long-forgotten attic. Rather, the toys on display here are more along the lines of the ones that grownups collect, trade, and proudly display on their shelves next to their graphic-novel collection. Part art show, part highbrow toy auction, this unique event will not only be colorful but also for a good cause. The door charge, any new toys donated by guests, and 25 percent of the proceeds from sales will benefit Toys for Tots, which distributes holiday gifts to children in need. The evening features a poster sale of limited-edition, toy-inspired prints by local artists including Lon Unitus, David Witt, Kelly Munson, and Steve Tenebrini of Squad 19, among others. Toys will be sold via silent auction and feature cult favorites like Lunabees's demonically psychedelic monkeys and bunnies, Ferg's highly explosive collectable dolls, and Eyeskull's optical-themed work. Solid Gold spins DJ tunes throughout the night. (Work by Tom Stromm)
