Stories as Told in a Bed

That odd theatrical hankering that makes itself known as the equivalent of an unscratched itch turns out to be the absence of Theatre de la Jeune Lune from the local landscape. I know, I know, all things must pass, all things must pass away. So let's take Barbra Berlovitz's new performance work (directed by former TJL co-conspirator Bob Rosen) at face value: It's a chance to see a longtime shining talent in a new context, turning another page (as we all must). Stories as Told in a Bed is inspired by the life of her grandfather, an immigrant from Lithuania, and it tackles the notion of what it means to shift into a new world, with all the old signposts lost, and everything around tinged with strangeness and (one hopes) possibility. We move as shadows, through uncertain passages.
Thursdays-Sundays, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Nov. 19. Continues through Nov. 22, 2009
