What happens when hot dishes go gourmet? Can the combo of tater tots, cream of mushroom soup, and a pound of cheese lose its charm when rendered elegant? Those are a couple of many questions you may ask at the 12th edition of Gastro Non Grata, which will be celebrating comfort foods and canned booze as we turn toward our starches and beer as the days get colder. The guest chef this time will be Landon Schoenfeld, who will be making his second appearance at Gastro. Tonight he will be previewing two samples from his upcoming restaurant, Haute Dish, which will fancify the state's beloved food. He'll also be serving up something special from his days at the Wienery. The beer guests will be San Francisco brewers 21st Amendment Brewery, who will be offering intriguing canned selections Hell or High Watermelon Wheat, Brew Free or Die IPA, and some brand-new beers never tasted before in the Twin Cities. As usual, guests can sign up to win something tasty to take home thanks to the dead meat door prize by Clancy's Meat and Fish, and sample some of the homemade Lambic beer Northern Brewers actually created at the last party. Musical acts ending the night right include Falcon Crest, Arctic Universe, School of Rock Road Crew, and the Annandale Cardinals, also with a little bit of blues from Cadillac Kolstad and Cornbread Harris.
