This daytime family event would be fun even if it didn't feature a rare reunion performance by American punk pioneers the Suicide Commandos, or a maze of mirrored pavilions created by conceptual-art renaissance man (and punk critic) Dan Graham. As is, the kids' activities—including art-making with reflective materials, a story time about a five-piece punk band on Old MacDonald's Farm, and a self-guided activity sheet for exploring the exhibition—are part of an odd spectacle any adult can appreciate. If the Suicide Commandos' collected recordings on iTunes sound like a distillation of everything urgent and beautiful in punk rock, that might be because they were one of the first punk bands, forming here in 1974 and playing mostly high schools and middle schools at first—making this Walker happening their roundabout return to a youth audience.
