Erik Griffin

Erik Griffin isn't embarrassed to say what the biggest key to his success has been. "Admitted mama's boy, here," he laughs, "put that on the record." He elaborates. "She was one of those supportive moms, and if I said I wanted to be a rock climber she'd buy me some rope and hooks the next day and sign me up for a class." So when he left his career in teaching, his mom was behind him. "I went for it at that point. I got a commercial agent, started to travel, and look at this here, I am coming to Minnesota." Onstage, Griffin talks about his life and experiences. "I'm not really a current-events guy, sadly," he says. "I kind of give my own perspective on life, and then put my skew on it." Lately, he's been telling audiences about his recent weight loss. "The evils of the food industry," he says. "Like ranch dressing. That's the devil's love juice right there."
Thursdays-Sundays, 8 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, 10:30 p.m. Starts: Oct. 29. Continues through Nov. 1, 2009
