As anyone who has read The Jungle or Fast Food Nation knows, working in a mill, or any food processing plant for that matter, is a horrifically dangerous job. The Washburn A. Mill is hardly an exception. There was the infamous 1878 flour dust explosion that killed 18 workers, for example. There was also a precarious man-lift elevator. This hour-long tour will take guests through the old ruins, including the courtyard. Participants will travel through the facility as costumed actors re-enact the tragedies that have befallen the site over the years. The building itself is also fascinating. It's a mix of brick ruins and modern glass architecture, and should make for an interesting tour. Call for required reservations.
