Rumor holds that Halloween is the time of year when figures from the past reach out to and attempt to make contact (those recent texts from your ex: explained!). Stillwater's Luna Rossa Trattoria and Wine Bar provides an encounter more fun than a run-in with a former fling in the form of its Haunted Cave Tours through the Joseph Wolf Brewery Caves. Built into a bluff in the 1800s—and now sitting squarely in downtown Stillwater—the caves play host to area legends in the weekends leading up to Halloween. With the help of the Duck Soup Players, a wander through the dimly lit caverns includes meetings with corpse fisher John Jeremy, notorious for recovering the bodies of 104 loggers from local waterways, and Sandy McDougal, a lumberjack who spent 69 winters in the woods. The half-hour tour is perhaps best concluded with a visit to Luna Rossa, whose menu is heavy on Italian dishes, to say nothing of—forgive us—spirits. Visit www.lunarossawinebar.com for more info.
