More About

Greg Gossel's show "Broken" features paintings that pay tribute to past decades, sometimes more than one simultaneously. Much like collective memories, his pieces are layered with images that play off of pop culture, comics, and celebrity tabloids from days of yore. Using a labor-intensive process that involves lacquering, sanding, and collage, Gossel creates work that has been described as reminiscent of what you would find if someone peeled away fragments of paper glued to a building covered in graffiti art, political and music-gig posters, and newsprint. The opening reception for both shows is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, October 9. Amy Rice will also be exhibiting new works.
