Radio Golf

The world is a better place with Penumbra returning to its task of staging August Wilson's 10-play cycle with Lou Bellamy at the helm. Radio Golf takes place at the tail end of the American century Wilson sought to define, with a man striving to become the first African American mayor of Pittsburgh. His ambitions mesh and collide with the interests of his own community, as power, race, and history play out in all their messy complication. Wilson's epic ambition has left us with brilliant, soulful dramatic documents of the most complex issues we all face as a society; in Penumbra, and Bellamy, we have an artistic, intellectual, and spiritual skill set capable of transmitting those mind bombs with certainty and precision. Wilson's plays will live on, and become redefined, but this particular moment will never come again.
