Maxine Hong Kingston has composed astounding works of history and fiction, for which she has won some of the most prestigious awards in literature—including the National Book Critics Circle Award, the National Book Award, an American Academy of Arts and Letters Award, and the Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters from the National Book Foundation. Her most recent works include The Fifth Book of Peace, an exploration of life in wartime, and Veterans of War, Veterans of Peace, a collection of personal accounts that she collected and edited. A reception and book signing will follow her presentation.
