1/2 Way to St. Patrick's Day

It might sound strange to say this, but we are halfway to March 17. On our way to reach that date, there will be several feet of snow, snot-freezing wind chill, and a few holidays spent with annoying relatives. This seems as good a reason as any to celebrate the midpoint to St. Patrick's Day, a holiday honoring Irish culture, consumption, and the color green. The official date is Thursday, September 17, but Keegan's Irish Pub will be partying Friday and Saturday with special performances and activities. At the stroke of 7 p.m. each night, Irish band Erin Rogue will be playing traditional tunes in the outside tent, followed by some drinking songs with Tom Dahill and Ginny Johnson inside the bar. Saturday at 4 p.m. guests can check out the St. Paul Irish Dancers. There will also be cash giveaways and $2 domestic beers each night from 10 p.m. to midnight. (photo by mfajardo)
Fri., Sept. 18, 7 p.m.; Sat., Sept. 19, 4 p.m., 2009
