Taste of Greece

This three-day festival in Uptown honoring Greek traditions should be a good time for all. Friday evening features the annual 5K run around Lake Calhoun, where runners will be applauded for their efforts much like the original Olympians were in Athens, all while raising food-shelf funds. Each day there will be traditional live music and dance performances. At the cooking demonstrations Saturday and Sunday guests can learn about different types of olive oil, as well as how to trouble-shoot working with the always intimidating phyllo dough. Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. festival attendees can learn about Greek wineries and sample some varieties from one of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world. Check out the website for coupons, or bring three nonperishable food-shelf items to exchange for two free food and drink tickets. For more info visit www.mplsgreekfest.org.
Fridays, Saturdays, 12-10 p.m.; Sun., Sept. 13, 12-6 p.m. Starts: Sept. 11. Continues through Sept. 13, 2009
