mnartists.org Field Day at the Walker

If there is anything close to a business meeting for the artistic community in the Twin Cities, this is it. But there will be a lot more fun here than at the typical industry gathering, of course. The daylong event, running a whopping 11 hours, gives artists a unique chance to spend a late summer day meandering around the Walker's Sculpture Garden and outdoor spaces networking, learning, and playing. Highlights from the schedule (check MNArtists.org for the complete itinerary) include author Geoff Herbach hosting a mnLIT picnic featuring local writers reading fiction and poetry at noon; Luci Kandler and Ashley Wokasch, collaborators on the clothing line Calpurina Peach, teaching a screen-printing workshop from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., allowing attendees to make their own logo and apply it to a piece of clothing from home; and Solid Goal performing at 8:30 p.m. Be sure to stick around at least until 5:30 p.m. to be in the "class photo" capturing the memory of artists who spent the day together.
Thu., Aug. 27, 11 a.m.-10 p.m., 2009
