Comicopolis

While the comic strip struggles in newsprint, it continues to thrive online and in other forms of print. This is especially the case locally, and will be demonstrated quite effectively with this group show featuring 10 Twin Cities artists. On display will be original art, mini-comics, books, and prints. Artists include B. Sabo, whose work draws inspiration from subjects including the Depression, folklore, and monstrosities; Ken Avidor, an artist who uses apocalyptic images about as much as he uses bright color (a lot); and Andy Singer, who doubles as curator and doodler on this exhibit. His cartoon No Exit is syndicated in dozens of papers and magazines. An opening reception will be held 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, August 28.
Aug. 28-Sept. 30, 2009
