There's something about the word "recovery" that doesn't really make one think of happy hour, but Sweeney's Recovery Happy Hour is more about bouncing back from economic woes and depressing employment rates than falling off the wagon. Yes, even those on a jobless budget should appreciate $2.50 pints of beer and $.50 tacos daily from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Not a beer drinker? Bottles of wine are half off Sunday and Monday. In the evening from 9 p.m. to close, the late-night happy hour caters to groups, be they students or locals from the neighborhood, with $5 off pitchers of beer, $.50 wings, and $3 baskets of fries. The beer selection rotates each season, and sometimes each month, but you can usually find brews such as Bell's Two-Hearted, Anchor Steam, and Stella Artois on tap. Another bonus: Sweeney's outdoor porch is one of the best pub patios in town, with plenty of seating, a large stone fireplace, and foliage that creates a cozy, enclosed feeling. (photo by mfajardo)
