If you've gone to a hip hop show in town sometime in the last few years, whether it's a local icon in the Entry or a national act at the Varsity, you've probably bore witness to a DJ set by Minneapolis' own Verb X. As one of the hardest-working DJs in town, he's secured himself more than one prominent regular engagement in the Twin Cities, with a decade plus' worth of experience and an outspoken, borderline-evangelical dedication to the local hip hop scene to back him up. While his "Bungalow" VIP Lounge sets at First Avenue remain his highest-profile gig, this free weekly Tuesday night set at the Nomad is just as worthy of a night out, with the pub's wide beer selection acting as a good companion to the classic curriculum of vintage and current hip hop, R&B and reggae records in his crates.
