About 10 years ago a big controversy arose in the comedy world when the younger brother of melon-smashing prop comic Gallagher co-opted his routine to perform as "Gallagher Too" and spurred an ugly lawsuit. What we have since learned with the help of hindsight is that one thing could have prevented that whole ordeal: the integration of a Metallica tribute band into the act. Yes, Metallagher is exactly what you think it is: a full band performing the greatest hits off albums like Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning, fronted by a man who, when not snarling through "Fade to Black" with the guttural bellow of James Hetfield, affects the nasal twang and dopey observational humor of America's favorite sledgehammer-wielding comedian. On paper, it's possibly the most ironic thing in the world; live, it's a perfect storm of goofball humor and thrash-metal power.
