A Tribute to Michael Jackson

Has it really been two months? Michael Jackson's death seems to make less sense rather than more as the sideshow of his life accelerates rather than slows or stops. Many mourn the Michael Jackson who flattened the earth and spun it on its side in the 1980s. But the guy made mesmerizing music right up through 2001's "Butterflies," written by Floetry's Marsha Ambrosius. Jackson was one of the great crafters of pop songs, and there are few better ways to hole up in his art than to hear those songs voiced fresh by others. Ergo this tribute from a Minneapolis scene to which he had ties familial and musical, featuring members of Mint Condition, the Steeles, Sounds of Blackness, Greazy Meal, Dr. Mambo's Combo, the New Congress, the Maxx Band, and more.
