91st PGA Championship

The PGA Championship, one of four Majors in men's golf, returns to Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska this week. With it comes more drama than you can shake a putter at. As always, all eyes will be on Tiger Woods, still the world's top player despite a relatively mediocre season thus far. Woods, still on the rebound from knee surgery, has struggled—if you consider winning only four tournaments struggling. But setting aside relative comparison of his talent to that of the rest of the tour, Woods missed the cut at the Open Championship earlier this season and needs to win the PGA championship to maintain a streak of four years with at least one major victory. Also sure to draw large galleries is Phil Mickelson, whose wife, Amy, was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this summer, causing Mickelson to play a partial tour. Also, Japanese teen sensation Ryo Ishikawa, about a month shy of 18, will make history as the youngest competitor in the entire tourney's run. Practice rounds began last Monday morning, but the tournament tees off this Thursday. (photo by chispita_666)
Mondays-Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays, 7 a.m.-8 p.m.; Thursdays, Fridays, 6:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Starts: Aug. 10. Continues through Aug. 16, 2009
