2009 Hiroshima and Nagasaki Commemoration Events

This memorial event commemorates the 64th anniversary of the U.S. atomic bomb attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Wednesday night there will be a meditative tea ceremony at 6 p.m. hosted by the Yukimakai tea study group. The following day will mark the annual ceremony of the cranes. Visitors can follow the instructions located on plaques throughout the garden to learn how to fold a paper crane. At 7:30 a.m. Roger Hale will be speak out against nuclear weapons, followed by a moment of silence. There will also be other performances and activities throughout the day, including music, storytelling, and dance by Kairos Dance Theater. Sunday will mark the Nagasaki Commemoration at the Global Harmony Labyrinth in Como Park (1431 N.
