Yulong: The Jade Dragon

The young people who make up Circus Juventas are living a dream—they have the unique opportunity to learn and perform a wide variety of circus acts influenced by centuries of tradition—right in their own backyard. The most advanced participants from North America's largest youth circus troupe, plus three guest acrobats and jugglers from Taiwan, are teaming up with the Chinese American Association of Minnesota (CAAM) to create a new high-flying production filled with grace and daring acts, and plenty of drama to keep you on the edge of your seat. This event marks the 15th anniversary of Circus Juventas performances, and you won't be disappointed by the big spectacle they have planned. Expect battles, dancing, drumming, hoop diving, Chinese poles, a bike for 10, and much, much more, all drawn from a Chinese legend featuring Hua Mulan, a brave young woman who disguises herself as a soldier to replace her elderly father in the ranks.
Fridays, 7 p.m.; Saturdays, 1 & 7 p.m.; Sundays, 1 p.m. Starts: July 31. Continues through Aug. 16, 2009
