Bill Mike, Carnage & Chris Morrissey

I know a lot of us were irritated at how oppressively cold and bleak and just plain miserable the weather was last winter, but local guitar wiz Bill Mike probably has a better reason than most of us to be glad the cold months are behind us. The man hit a bad patch last February -- literally, since he slipped on some ice on his way to a show at the Varsity and dislocated his right shoulder. And since you can't play guitar with your arm in a sling, that left him off stage for an uncharacteristically long time. But this Friday, he returns to the Turf Club, and he's bringing more than just his eclectic-minded funk and hip hop-inflected rock with him. A couple longtime collaborators are going to be sharing the stage with Mike, as Bill Mike Band vet Chris Morrissey lends his well-traveled bass and MC/beatbox extraordinaire Carnage provides his virtuoso vocal pyrotechnics. Combine those two with one of the slickest guitarists in the Twin Cities, and it's clear that it'll take more than just some punk-ass frozen water to keep Bill Mike down.
