Well, here's an odd development: it looks like the definition of "classic rock" has expanded significantly over the last decade and a half or so. At least that's the case if the 15th annual installation of the popular Rock Fest is any indication. Back in '94, their lineup was traditional KQ fare -- BTO, Cheap Trick, Steppenwolf, Foghat, the usual suspects. But Rock Fest's been skewing younger over the years, and the inclusion of modern rock staples like Hoobastank, Sevendust, Buckcherry and Korn -- not to mention country-rock crossover superstar Sheryl Crow -- gives it a broader, multi-generational appeal. They'll still be rubbing elbows with a couple luminaries of the traditional boomer-rock milieu, namely the Steve Miller Band and the Arnel Pineda-fronted incarnation of Journey (pictured). (Odds on hearing "The Joker" and "Don't Stop Believin'": pretty good.) And if you missed metal titans Judas Priest at Taste of Minnesota, you get a second chance at 'em here. With food; camping; more. For tickets and info call 800.326.3378 or visit www.rock-fest.com.
