2009 Pride Festival

If choosing from the other five million Pride-related events makes your head spin, exploring the festival over at Loring Park is probably your best bet for a good time. As usual, activities range from political to sporty, family-friendly to mature, and everything in between. Sign up your team or cheer people on at the volleyball, basketball, and rugby competitions. The children's area will include family activities, live music, and picnic spots. Or pay $5 for access to the Beer Garden, where festival-goers can spend time chatting with friends and enjoy DJ sets. The headline show is 18+, costs $12 in advance and $15 at the gate, and will feature R&B songstress Kat DeLuna and Latin-flavored pop rockers Exposé. Need to get away from the screaming children and throbbing music? Take a free canoe ride on the pond, available during the day. For more info visit www.tcpride.org or call 612.305.6900.
Sat., June 27, 10 a.m.-10 p.m.; Sun., June 28, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., 2009
