Midsommar Celebration

Any festival celebrating the start of summer is one that we can heartily get behind. The American Swedish Institute is once again throwing this bash welcoming back summer, the sunniest of seasons. Things kick off Friday with a $5 evening concert beginning around 6:30 p.m. featuring local and Scandinavian acts. On Saturday, folks can check out the daylong, family-friendly Midsommar Celebration. Enjoy authentic food and drink, try your hand at wreath-making, and enjoy traditional folk dance, music, and performances. At 1 p.m. the parade will march through the grounds in a whirlwind of fiddle music, dancers, and costumed pageantry followed by the raising of the decorated midsummer maypole.
Sat., June 20, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., 2009
