You may not realize it, but hair is a very dynamic thing. It can be mythical (as seen in the tale of Samson and Delilah), it can be pop cultural (everyone knows someone who had the "Jennifer" in the '90s or the "Farrah" shag in the '70s), and there's even a musical named after that substance growing on our heads. For "Sweet Hair," 37 local artists were asked to make hair their muse, resulting in a poster show inspired by flowing tresses, curls, and manly manes. The opening shindig this Saturday, June 13 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. should be a hairy good time, with DJs Rambo Salinas and Talk Radio spinning tunes, food and drink on hand, and professional hairstyling by stylists from Mezzanine Salon. A portion of the proceeds benefits Locks of Love, which provides hairpieces for financially disadvantaged children with long-term hair loss due to illness.
Saturdays. Starts: June 13. Continues through July 12, 2009
