The Red Eye's annual Isolated Acts festival of new works amounts to adding artistic compost to the fertile soil of local art; participants over its long history have gone on to found sterling companies such as Frank Theatre, Bedlam, and Skewed Visions. This weekend features Dominic Orlando's one-man Pandemonium, which collides Beckett with Milton in a character's search for how things went wrong. Next week, Hijack pairs up with Mad King Thomas for Maybe, where the two dance and movement ensembles seek the intersection of their distinctive styles. Rounding out matters at the end of June will be choreographer Nicolas Lincoln's Hot Mess, promising video, paint, goggles, and eggbeaters. Nothing is guaranteed here, except exploration, the thrill of the new, and the immediacy that follows.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 7 p.m. Starts: June 4. Continues through June 28, 2009
