City Pages Beer Festival

Those who attended last year's sold-out Beer Fest probably remember two things: big crowds and dime-sized hail. Though we can't control Minnesota's erratic weather, the crowd situation should be better at this year's event. The party has moved from Hennepin Avenue in Uptown to a more spacious lot in downtown, about a block from the Orpheum Theatre. At the fest you can sample a wide variety of beers, including seasonal and low-carb offerings, as well as those from local brewpubs such as Herkimers and Rock Bottom, and even those that have traveled a long distance to bring you a buzz, including Moosehead lagers, Rogue ales, and Blue Moon witbiers. Live music will be provided by the White Iron Band. As usual, Beer Fest is a rain-or-shine (or in some cases, hail) event. A portion of the proceeds benefit the St. Paul Jaycees.
