What happens when you invite local chefs, brewers, foodies, and musicians to one location? Answer: a really, really good party. This installment of Gastro Non Grata will feature something new: a big pot of boiling wort in the backyard—meaning members of Northern Brewery will be making a fresh batch of beer for you to enjoy and sample. Chef Heather Heartman, who has plated delicious dinners at both Spoonriver and Café Brenda, will be serving up a mushroom pâté with a Vietnamese grilled pork salad. Still hungry? Colin Gasko of Rogue Chocolatier will bring chocolate samples, and lucky winners of the meat raffle will be taking home good eats for later from Clancy's Butcher Shop. River Falls, Wisconsin, beer makers Rush River Brewing recommend pairings from their line. The evening is also an opportunity to feed your ears. Acts slated to perform include Mr. Fly, Dreamland Faces, the Evening Rig, His Mischief, and Birthday Suits. Canned food donations will be collected at the event as well.
