While there are many reasons to visit Shakopee, here's the big three: Valleyfair, the Minnesota Renaissance Festival, and Canterbury Park. We don't suggest you try to make it to all three in one day. One's gambling style may vary: Some go with their gut, others pick the horse with the funniest name, while others crunch numbers to play with or against the odds. There will also be cards for those who would rather hedge their bets against the deck and the house, food and drink specials on some weekends, and a picnic area for race-goers looking to make a day of it. Thursdays, starting June 4, feature $1 admission plus hot dogs, Miller beer, nachos, and Pepsi for $2.50 each. Sure, you'll win some and lose some, but either way you'll probably end up having a good time.
Thursdays, Fridays, 7-11 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, 1:30-5:30 p.m. Starts: May 15. Continues through Aug. 30, 2009
