Composer-pianist Drew Gordon was a musician by training and trade, but he was also a vital member of the local dance community. Until his sudden death in 2006, Gordon served as the longtime musician in residence at the University of Minnesota's dance program, where he introduced many students to the significant interrelationship between movement and music. He was also a frequent collaborator with local choreographers. Tonight's event will support the Drew Gordon Scholarship Fund, a new program for students of music and dance. The lineup is stellar and includes Gondwana with tap master Ellen Keane, Time Track Productions/Paula Mann, Stuart Pimsler Dance Theater, HIJACK with music by Pablo, Karla Grotting and Joe Chvala of the Flying Foot Forum, and many other artists. This is a great show for a worthy cause.
