It's not unreasonable for Art-A-Whirl to be named after a tornado-like occurrence; this weekend northeast Minneapolis will host over 500 artists in just about every medium, including film, performance art, and even food. Much more than a street fest where craftsmen hawk their wares, artists will open their doors and demonstrate the often-intense creative process, from clay casting and wheel throwing in the Grainbelt Building to bronze pours at the Q.arma Building to a letterpress demo over at the Northrup King Building. Those looking to get the most out of the festival should visit a welcoming booth; they will be located at Marshall Street and 13th Avenue Northeast and at Broadway Avenue and Quincy Street Northeast, with trolleys running to the major participating buildings on Saturday and Sunday.
