Times are tough for small galleries and arts organizations. This we all know. But that doesn't mean you have to pour massive amounts of money into purchasing a work; you can also celebrate and support art at this fundraising party. Midway Contemporary Art is a nonprofit that focuses on showcasing work by incredible artists who are newer or haven't been given a lot of attention. Current exhibits include local found-art/collage artist Isa Newby Gagarin and Madrid-based artist Patricia Esquivias's ongoing video project. My Tokyo will open with a VIP reception at 6 p.m. hosted by Mark Wheat from the Current. Guests can enjoy cocktails and check out art up for auction. The drinks continue to flow at 8 p.m. when the general reception begins. The live and silent auctions will continue as partiers enjoy appetizers from the 318 Café. After the auctions end, sound artists Beatrix*JAR and Black Lacquer will provide late-night tunes. Visit www.midwayart.org for tickets or call 612.605.4504 for more info. Proceeds benefit Midway Contemporary Art.
