Shapiro & Smith Dance: Medea Medea

Shapiro & Smith Dance delivers dramatic action with tongue in cheek in a spring concert that gives this lively, lovely company of dancers plenty to chew on. "Medea Medea," a seriocomic version of the ancient Greek melodrama, features the excellent company women and guest artist Ananya Chatterjea, a dancer of fierce intensity. A new men's trio by Eddie Oroyan, one heck of a dancer and choreographer, promises no-holds-barred physicality seasoned with wit and plenty of hot sauce. And a remount of "To Have and to Hold" features guest artist Carl Flink in a dance of startling emotional depth in which benches function as church pews, gymnastic equipment, and even coffins. $22. Post-show Q&A Friday; master class 10:30 a.m. Saturday; 7:15 p.m. preshow talk Saturday.
Thu., April 9, 7:30 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sun., April 12, 7 p.m. Starts: April 9. Continues through April 11, 2009
