Changing Identity, which opened at the Weisman in late January, is the first touring show in the U.S. to exhibit the work of female Vietnamese artists. Throughout its run there have been film screenings, workshops, and other related events. Tonight's special program will feature spoken word and hip hop exploring and celebrating Vietnamese women's identity, both historically and culturally. Spoken-word artist Jenii Le focuses on expressing the dissonance between growing up as an American with a Vietnamese family in her powerful performances, including "I Am Not Vietnamese." Political activist and spoken-word artist Sahra Nguyen also performs. Brooklyn hip-hop duo Magnetic North round out the evening.
