For reasons I will never understand, the number of places around the city that offer wi-fi and beer are sparse. However, the ones that do are spectacular. Acadia Café is certainly an example of a great place where you can check your email, write a school paper, and talk politics with friends over a beer. And what an amazing beer list it is. Students in the area will presumably become spoiled as they get used to Acadia's impressive selection; the taps line the bar more or less from one end to the other. Stumped as to what to order? The handy menu not only lists beers by price (ranging from $4-$10), but also includes useful info like the alcohol volume, as well as the flavors and nuances of each brew. You'll find local favorites like Surly and Summit, but also unusual selections like He'Brew Jewbelation Twelve Strong Ale (a beer that boasts 12 hops and 12 malts), Eel River Organic India Pale Ale (a brew with a hint of strawberry), and Tyranena Paradise by the Dashboard Lights (which gets its flavor from a cherry puree). Happy hour runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, with a $1 off all pints, rail drinks, and glasses of wine and $4 off all pitchers and bottles of wine. The place gets happy again Sunday through Thursdays from 10 p.m. until closing time at 1 a.m. with specials that change each night.
