As if there was any doubt about the dominance the WCHA holds in NCAA mens hockey, look no further than the field of teams taking the Xcel Energy Center ice for the WCHA Final Five tournament this weekend. All five teams: the North Dakota Sioux, Denver University Pioneers, Wisconsin Badgers, U of M-Duluth Bulldogs, and the U of M Gophers are all ranked in the top 20, and all five teams swept their first round series in the WCHA tournament, to boot. Given the high level of talent in the field, game play is sure to be fierce, with the champion receiving an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament. The action begins with number 16 Gophers taking facing off against number 19 Bulldogs on Thursday night at 7:07 p.m. On Friday, the winner of that game takes on WCHA regular season title winners North Dakota also at 7:07 p.m., and Denver playing Wisconsin at 2:07 p.m. The tournament wraps up on Saturday with the third place game at 2:07 p.m., and the championship match up for the Broadmoor Trophy at 7:07 p.m. For more info visit www.wcha.com.
