There are few better ways to lure people into spending money to support a cause than offering them food. Chocolate is best. The folks running the Bloomington Fine Arts Council are above offering the blasé free cookie at a cocktail party, however, and are gearing up for their 14th annual Taste of Chocolate. The party will be packed with food and entertainment, all centered on the little bean the Aztecs worshipped. Over a dozen vendors will be present for chocolate tastings and competition, including Mr. B Chocolatier and Obsession Chocolates. McCormick and Schmick's Seafood Restaurant and Woolley's Prime Steakhouse are also slated to appear, perhaps to offer chocolate-covered oysters or a ganache-lamb lollipop? In addition to pleasing your palate, the event will tease your ears with choirs, chorales, and quartets; and mesmerize your eyes with the Continental Ballet Company. A silent auction is also set, as well as a raffle. The grand prize is a Riding Lawn Mower (a push mower would interfere with on-the-job chocolate snacking, after all), and the two first-place prizes are gift certificates to the Mall of America. For more info call 952.563.8575 or visit www.tasteofchocolate.org. Proceeds benefit the Bloomington Fine Arts Council.
