Local Motion: Zander Cannon

Local comic and graphic artist Zander Cannon's early work included The Chainsaw Vigilante, a spin-off of The Tick, followed by The Replacement God, a tale about an ex-slave named Knut who is hunted by an evil tyrant and his Beatnik minions in the fictional land of Mun. In 2004 Cannon and two friends formed Big Attic, which not only produces comics and graphic novels, but also creates animation, maintains a sound studio, and runs a game-development company called PUNY. In between leaping creative obstacles with a single bound, Cannon has worked with Alan Moore (Watchmen, V for Vendetta) on the superhero yarn Top 10, as well as illustrating Bone Sharps, Cowboys, and Thunder Lizards, a tale by Jim Ottaviani about two scientists racing to uncover dinosaur bones during Gilded Age-era excavations. This Tuesday, the talented artist will discuss his career, as well as share thoughts and visuals on some of his works-in-progress.
Tue., March 10, 7 p.m., 2009
