No matter how much we adore Kat Von D's tattoo portraits and positive, girl-power attitude, right now we're too poor to fly to California to get ink done. Fortunately, the celebrity tattoo artist and star of TLC's L.A. Ink is coming to Minnesota to promote her new book, High Voltage Tattoo, named after her tattoo shop. So, what's inside the book? "When Harper approached me, I didn't know what the premise would be. I knew it was TMI to do an autobiography," Von D explains over the phone. "They came at me with this idea to do an overall look into the tattoo world through my eyes, to do a little bit of the autobiographical aspect in the beginning, talk about where I come from to how I got where I am now, as well showcase my favorite tattoos over a hundred different clients." The result is a colorful, informative, and inspiring glimpse into both Von D's life and the world of tattooing. When Von D finishes her national book tour, don't expect her to grow bored. Her future plans include a European book tour, filming more L.A. Ink, another book ("I have several ideas, one of them focusing on how music and tattooing influence each other," she says), and, of course, tattooing. This event is signing-only.
