Free Ink Day

Today, the Highpoint Center for Printmaking is hosting Free Ink Day for the last time. Well, not really the last time, but it will be the last time you can attend at the current location on Lyndale Avenue. In the near future the center will be moving to a more permanent space: a renovated 10,000-square-foot building on Lake Street in Uptown. To celebrate the good fortune of finding new digs, the center is inviting guests to create prints at the old location one last time. As usual, activities are open to all age groups and skill sets. Would-be print artists can select images to print from visiting artist Carlos Amorales's archives. His prints are mostly animal-inspired, and range from birds to bears and more. Using his images, you can create a monoprint to take home for your fridge or frame for your wall. Not feeling the animal prints? Woodblocks carved by Highpoint artists will also be available to use.
Sat., Feb. 21, 1-5 p.m., 2009
