Clive Murphy: Almost Nothing

Those who have been to the Soap Factory know that the space is pretty big; the gallery alone is 12,000 square feet. So Clive Murphy's daunting task of filling the it with his inflated sculptures made of garbage bags should not be taken lightly. The installation will be created onsite, its kinetic and dynamic elements shaped in reaction to the space itself. In the past, teh Irish-born, New York City-based Murphy has drawn inspiration from Abraham Lincoln's beard, self-assembly instructional diagrams, and porn SPAM. This show plans to be an intriguing blend of radical architectural proposals from decades past, blimp advertising, and inflatable fairground structures. Opening reception 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, February 21.
Feb. 21-April 5, 2009
