Tapes 'N Tapes

One of the first bands to become popular because of the blogosphere--never mind their stellar showing at SXSW a couple of years back--Tapes 'n Tapes are also one of the few bands that have proved worthy of the attention. As bands like Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, We Are Scientists and other highly touted "blog bands" have slowly started to fall by the wayside (some possibly headed for a date with the cut-out bin), TnT followed up their debut with a richer, more mature album in Walk It Off. While the comparisons to Pavement and the Pixies have some merit, ultimately TnT have a unique sound all their own. It runs the gamut from country-influenced slow rockers to what can only be described as a galloping squall--all the while sounding like an extremely cohesive body of work. While the blogs and media outlets/hatchet jobbers like Pitchfork have since turned their backs on them and moved on to the newest could-be-next-big-things, TnT are shaping up to prove immune to such attacks. Come see for yourself what the fuss is about instead of letting some faux-hip blogger dictate your listening habits.
