Second Runway

Though a celebrity might believe that being a fashion icon is hard work, such a claim is worthy of an eye-roll. How hard can it be to look good with the help of a stylist, after all? The most worthy fashion icons are those who make clothes work for them on a limited budget through thrift store finds, homemade designs, and reinventing things found in the back of the closet. This Saturday, the Second Runway Fashion Show honors the independent fashion spirit. Hosted by Dotty Cannon (Miss Minnesota 2006) and Sara Rogers (a Mall of America trend specialist), local designers will roll up their sleeves and create a stellar show woven with threads of moxie, chutzpah, and recycled clothing. Participating designers include Thom and Tim Navarro, Matthew Sairio, Christina Schuster, Sabrina Storekamp, Joynoelle, Ariel Bock, Standard Issue Clothing, and many, many more. See something you like? Threads will be up for auction. Food and live music round out the night, with proceeds benefitting the organization. Go to www.SecondRunway.org for presale tickets.
