Folkways of the Holidays

Ever wondered how Minnesotans celebrated the holidays during the 1800s? Now you can find out (and get into the holiday spirit while you're at it) with this interactive holiday village out in Shakopee. The Landing, formerly dubbed Historic Murphy's Landing, will once again host a slew of activities to melt even the Grinchiest of hearts. Ride on a horse-drawn trolley, check out the homes decked with old-world ethnic authenticity, chat up a costumed character, or enjoy some of the live music performances at the church or town hall. This Saturday features dance by St. Paul Czech and Slovak Dancers and music by Lara Swanson while other weekends let you get in on the musical action with caroling throughout the area. Be sure to check out www.threeriversparkdistrict.org for a complete list of activities happening each weekend.
Saturdays, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; Sundays, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Starts: Dec. 6. Continues through Dec. 28, 2008
