Like Town Hall or Green Mill, Herkimer brews its own beer. I’m not going to lie: I’m not a big fan of it. Most varieties taste like lighter beer, and there’s always a weird corn aftertaste. Try it, you might like it, but that said, you might want to order a mixed drink from the fully stocked bar instead. And the food is always mega-tasty. Though I am a diehard for the $5 mac ‘n cheese, the deals are to be found in happy hour. From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. they have 2-4-1 beer and well drinks and $3.50 appetizers. Popular items include the award-winning sweet potato fries with chipotle ketchup, homemade pretzel sticks, and roasted pepper artichoke dip. The same food deal applies from 10 p.m. to midnight. Are you really hungry? After 10 p.m. you can order up mini burgers, sweet potato fries, and a pint for $10.
