Jerry Maren is almost certainly a name you do not know. His breakout role, however, is probably seared into your mind for better or for worse. Maren played munchkin in cinema's creepiest classic, The Wizard of Oz. He was the one who handed Dorothy a lollipop. Maren will be in town this weekend to sign copies of his autobiography, Short and Sweet: The Life and Times of the Lollipop Munchkin, and introduce two screenings of a restored 35mm print of the film that launched his career. Proceeds from the screenings will benefit the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids. And here's a fun fact: Maren also played Mayor McCheese and the Hamburglar in McDonald's commercials!
